The Party is Over

My pity party that is. I read such sweet comments from my family and friends and decided I was no longer going to be the guest of honor at my Pity Party. Sometimes you get tired of feeling sorry for yourself. I think that's maybe where I'm at. Before the day is over, I may get the wind sucked out of me again, but I'm not putting on my party hat today. I hope. I am WOMAN after all. Hear me roar!

One of my favorite reads every day is by Leah from Bloggeritaville. She and I have a lot in common, not the least of which is a love of all things beachy! Well, when you visit her blog, if you scroll all the way down in her sidebar, she has some really fantastic quotes and words of wisdom. When I read this one, I thought to myself, yeah, that's right. And I'm not gonna forget it!

A Woman....
"Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of s*&t!!!!!!!

So the pity party is over and the STRONG WOMAN is back!
~~~
The exterminators are here and drilling and digging all over the place. Burn, baby, burn! You uninvited bug!!!!
While indulging myself in pity the last few days, I haven't mentioned to y'all a great movie that I saw with Nan, her mom and her mom's friend on Tuesday.
Julie & Julia. I've never been much of a Julia Child fan. Not because I didn't like her or didn't like French food (although I've never had much of it, if any) . But it was more that I didn't know anything about her. I've seen her cookbook, of course.
It's been around forever. Her recipes look incredibly difficult and the end product incredibly delicious. I've never been brave enough to take them on.
The movie is based on two true stories. Julia Child and Julie Powell. After seeing the movie, I saw that Julia Child was a real force to reckon with. She was over six feet tall! A fact that kept her from joining the U.S. Navy after the Pearl Harbor attack. I enjoyed the movie on so many levels. It was funny. It was a love story of sorts. It was inspiring. I loved seeing all the beautiful clothes and hats the women wore back in the late '40s and '50s. And the music, in my opinion, was awesome. It had music from that time period. Best of all, maybe, was that it took me away from things for a couple of hours. When you add in popcorn and milk duds, you have a perfect afternoon! Granted, the perfection was short-lived, but the pity party is over, remember. This is a must-see movie!
Last night, since I was feeling blue and needed another escape, Jeff and I went back to the theater to see The Perfect Getaway.
While I didn't enjoy this movie as much as Julie and Julia, it was entertaining. And I have to admit -- and if you know me, you won't be surprised -- I did let out quite a loud scream. If you have an afternoon or evening and you want to get your mind off things, take this one in. It's far-fetched no doubt, but sometimes when your mind is troubled, it's good to watch a movie like that.
The new TV we bought is a 55-inch one, which is pretty big, and the picture is so awesome. I told him we needed to rent a good movie tomorrow night and pretend we're at the movies. Do any of you have a good recommendation? I don't want something to make me sad. I don't mind a humorous one and I don't mind being scared. So whatcha got?
Cam visited the friend who had the burn accident last weekend. He said he looks good and shouldn't have much, if any, scarring on his face. They used some sort of hydrotherapy. The burn unit at Grady is amazing.
One of the best pieces of advice I've gotten lately came from my blogger friend, Laura, She said when she's dealing with life's craziness, it helps her to tell herself to simply do the next right thing. That often the next right thing isn't anything to do with the problem. It might be washing dishes or something else. I loved that and am doing just that today. For me, the next right thing this morning was to blog. To share. To thank. To laugh. To rejoice in this day that the Lord has made.
Till tomorrow, my great family and friends, LIVE. LOVE. LAUGH!!
Yeah, I know the movie is far fetched, but it sure helped me on my sad Monday afternoon. No one likes to see a loved one down in the dumps for long, so I'm glad your mood is lifting!!
Now you have me wanting to see that movie that I was sure was a snooze-fest. Maybe I'll go check her cookbook out at the bookstore. LOVE YA BUNCHES :0)
Glad to see you are back with the living. I am also glad you saw the movie Julie and Julia....I am not much of a Julia childs fan either....have read her cookbook...and also thought...this is HARD! I will go see the movie now. I went to see Frank's movie last night...his turn to pick...we saw G.I.Joe....and am surprised that even with the violence...it was not half bad. I love Dennis Quaid. Have y ou seen the movie...Without Reservations? That is a good movie....and it watches well on a 55" tv. Have a fun evening...and let us know which movie you choose for tonight.
I like your new background. You could go to the movies again and see the Time Traveler's Wife. I think that's what Theresa was talking about. Of course, you couldn't watch that on your freakishly big new TV set! Love you.
