One More Candle and a Trip Around the Sun

No, you never see it coming
Always wind up wondering where it went
Only time will tell if it was time well spent
It's another revelation
Celebrating what I should have done
With these souvenirs of my trip around the sun
(Lyrics courtesy of Jimmy Buffet)

Today I'm 44. And, no, I never saw it coming and yes, I am wondering where it went. I think time will tell it was time well spent. I will be celebrating what I have done. And I'll be doing it with souvenirs of my trip around the sun.
It's a soggy, soggy birthday. We've had nearly two inches of rain since last night. Jeff and I are taking a birthday trip to the North Georgia Mountains this week. We had planned on going to Tybee, but I just wasn't feeling it. We've gone to the mountains for years on my birthday, so why change a good thing? We're going back to see the apples. To see the leaves. To see the hills and mountains. And hopefully, see the sun.

My mama made my birthday supper last night. She made two huge pans of lasagna (a tradition). But I never ask for a traditional birthday cake. I'd much rather have these.

My mama makes the creamiest, best sweet potato pies you've ever tasted. The one on the left has all the traditional spices. The one on the right doesn't. I like it best without the spices. Notice she put my candles on the one I like. :-)

I blew out my candles and made a wish. My wish was for another year of living. Of loving. And, of course, laughing.

Tonight Jean (Jeff's mom) is making supper for us. I am blessed to have a family such as mine. You never feel quite as loved as you do on your birthday. Everyone has already made it such a special day. Thank you!

Till tomorrow, when my birthday is over and I will be journeying on my 44th trip around the sun, y'all enjoy my birthday!

I can tell you for sure it's been time well spent! What would I do without you? I don't wanna know!
You are the best big sister in the whole wide world and I love you pieces, pieces, pieces :0)
Hope you have the best birthday with the people who love you the most (minus me)!
And as a special tribute, I hope you also have:
* A clean house with no dust or crumbs in sight
* Bandit not licking the air
* Your boys being sweet to you AND each other
* Some good grub
* A good margarita, minus the headache that comes with it
* A pain-free, hot-flash free day
* Some beautiful scenery to see out your window
* A good nap

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU AND MANY MORE!!

Well, busy day yesterday. I LOVED the comment my Suz! That was so very sweet! Happy belated birthday! I hope you and Jeff have a grand time in the mountains! I love the mountains and will go north when I get old, instead of south! Have a wonderful time. Can't wait to see pics! BTW, the big "G" is like the one on my wall at the house. Where was that pic taken?? I know it was not here, because you had the "Bad Witch" shirt on here.

Happy Birthday. I have loved sweet potato pie since I was a little girl, and I agree, I don't like it spicy. Sounds so good...
