Sometimes You're the Windshield

And sometimes you're the bug. Right? And since I detest bugs, today I'm choosing to be the windshield.

Jeff took the day off and we set out to go get new shoes for my pretty baby.

No, I haven't given birth or anything. It's my car, silly. Not exactly my favorite way to spend a big chunk of money. But when you gotta have them, you gotta have them. We couldn't put it off any longer. They were getting unsafe to drive on, and since my luck has been kinda -- well, crappy lately, we decided to bite the bullet. Turns out NO ONE stocks the shoes my precious wears, so I have to go back at 3 this afternoon after the dealer picks them up and get them put on. Can you believe that a car dealership actually had the best price on the tires? I could not believe that. They're even cheaper on getting it aligned, too. So don't y'all rule out your dealer when you need something done on your car. It's at least worth checking into. We're going to save about $300.

I went to Jeff's team practice last night. It was so hot and humid. They scrimmaged another team in our area. The ironic thing is that it was held at the football field of my old high school. The school isn't there anymore, but the building is used as an alternative school for students that may have a hard time obeying the rules. If you know what I mean.

This is the very same field that 27 years ago this fall I was performing on with the world-famous Stockbridge High School Flag Corps. Then the field seemed so huge. The stands seemed gigantic. Now it's small. Isn't it funny how things seem so big and daunting when you're young? I remember feeling so nervous feeling like I was in front of 10,000 people. In reality the stands would only hold a few hundred people. Isn't it funny how things like that seem so much bigger and daunting when you're young?
Do you think that some of the things that seem big and daunting to us now will seem small when we're older? Maybe we'll look back and think, wow, that wasn't so big and bad after all.
I've been finding some kinda crazy things around my house today. This was in my fridge.
Yes, it is an empty bowl. Something tells me that someone ate what was in the bowl (that was already in the fridge), and rather than putting it in the dishwasher, just stuck it right back in the fridge. Nice.
Then in my laundry room we keep a large wicker hamper. With a lid. To put clothes in. So that you don't have to see the dirty laundry.

But instead Cam chose to put his dirty shorts ON TOP OF THE HAMPER. Why? I mean, is it really THAT hard to open the lid?
Anybody going to see this this weekend?
It opens today and I'm so excited. I'm going to go tonight after I go and wait two hours at the car dealer for my baby's shoes to be installed. I love Rachel McAdams. She's so beautiful and such a great actress. The Notebook is my very favorite movie. She's in that and I've watched it dozens of times and never tire of it. I can't think of a week ever before in my life that I've gone to the movies three times. I deserve it. And the popcorn and Milk Duds, too. Jeff's going to watch football and I think I'd rather be sitting in a nice, cool theater than in the scorching heat.
Tomorrow night we're going out to dinner with Nan and Ronnie and a few other friends to a place I've never been before.
Six Feet Under is the name of the restaurant and it's across from the famous Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta. The menu looks wonderful. After my popcorn and Milk Duds tonight, I may not eat again until we get there. I wish it wasn't so hot. It would be nice to have dinner on the roof.
That's my Friday post. Till tomorrow. May you all be the windshield!

The last tires I bought was at the dealer too. They had buy 3 get 1 free, I only needed 2 but went for the bargain, who wouldn't? I really want to see the movie, that is the one I couldn't remember the name of! Hope it is as good as it looks:) I remember your cute self on that football field and just ran across a picture recently of you in your outfit! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, love you!!!
