The Sunshine Connection

I don't want to do anything. I've got the blahs. According to Discovery Health, here's my problem:

For some people, lack of sunlight, usually during late fall and winter months, can bring on depression. Many people tend to feel a little down on cloudy days. People with seasonal affective disorder (SAD) experience depression during periods of gray weather. Experts believe that sunlight causes changes in a tiny structure in the brain called the hypothalamus. For some people, these changes upset the brain chemistry and cause depression.

And by George, I think they've hit the nail on the head. I must have sunshine. I. Must. Have. Sunshine. I know there's nothing you can do about the weather, so why gripe about it? Well, why not gripe about it? These awful, gray, gloomy skies and periods of soaking rain are making me feel bad and I'm ticked off about it. Thanks to Discovery Health, at least now I can justify my blues. I feel redeemed. Though I still feel lousy, at least my lousy mood is now justified.

Today I'm going to wear my T-shirt with this on it:

Yep, that's me. Little Miss Sunshine.

Till tomorrow.

Okiedokie, I am with you on the lack of sunshine. I am white as those amarylis in a previous post. I was cutting grass yesterday afternoon when the sun was out, about half finished and the bottom fell out. I had on jeans and tennis shoes and I looked like I had been baptised. My face was black with mascara, hair slicked down like Elvis and it was a sight to behold or not:) Anyway, the sun is shining and it is a gorgeous day. Love you and hope the blahs go bye-bye!!!!!

Hey,like the new flip flops !!! Guess it is a good thing you don't live in like Seattle or something -- I quite like the rain myself. BUT -- sunshine I will admit lifts the soul.
just go by more new flip flops and go to a tanning bed ---make you think you on a beach somewhere

I have seen the sun a teeny-tiny bit today! BUT.... Jason says this rain is going to give us soooo many mosquitos. I was cutting grass yesterday and got totally attacked. It was crazy. You're darned if you get too much rain and darned if you don't get enough.
LYLAS!!

Me too, sick sick sick of cool and rainy weather. Without the sun I am a total grouch. I have bought plants but I can't plant them. We have spring projects but we can't do them. The weatherman had the nerve to say it would be in the
70s here in Arkansas today and it barely got to 60. I had to wear my jacket to Lowe's this afternoon but I wore my stinkin' flip flops just to thumb my nose at Old Man Winter!

We have had a whole lot of rain her in Florida but if you look at my blog today you will see that the coasts have kept the blue skies and it has only rained inland!

Finally we have sunshine here! I was beginning to think I'd have webbed feet this year instead of wearing flip flops! Not that I'm complaining...I'd rather have some rain than drought!
