What is a Powertrain?

"In a vehicle, the term drivetrain or powertrain refers to the group of components that generate power and deliver it to the road surface, water, or air. This includes the engine, transmission, driveshafts, differentials, and the final drive (drive wheels, caterpillar track, propeller, etc). Sometimes "powertrain" is used to refer to simply the engine and transmission, including the other components only if they are integral to the transmission."
In laywoman's terms, my car's sick.

I just bought this car in September of last year. It's a 2009 Ford Escape. It's only a four cylinder. I got it when gas was $4 a gallon. With my job I have to drive so much and the car I had was costing a fortune to drive. I have actually fallen in love with this little thing. It fits me perfectly. The downside was I had to give up the G6. Which I also loved. Especially in the spring, summer and fall when I could ride with the top down. Jeff doesn't especially like driving the Escape. I think he feels a bit like he's driving a mo-ped because of the way the engine sounds. Not very manly to say the least. Hey, it works for me.

Last night I ran out for a couple of errands. I got in the car to come home and I was starting off, pressing the gas and the car just wouldn't go, nothing happened. Well, nothing except a couple of warning lights came on. The low fuel light came on and a wrench light came on. I had just filled the car up yesterday, so I don't know what that was about. But I ask you this: What the heck does a wrench tell a driver when their car won't go? A wrench. Hmmmm. Turned it off, then started it again. Same thing. Repeat. Same thing. Try again. This time I was able to get home. When I look up what a wrench warning light indicator means, it's not good. Something about the powertrain and get to the dealer as soon as possible.

Thank goodness Jeff is working from home today and he can take it. He may have to make a personality switch from George Jetson to Fred Flintstone and use his feet to pedal power it to the dealership. That'll look real manly, I'll bet.

I've heard Cam cough a few times this morning. I'm praying he's better today. Will y'all please pray too? It made me really sad last night hearing him cough so hard. I know he's sore and he hardly has any voice now. Poor baby. And BTW, there are now 12 cases of the swine flu in Henry County school systems. Just thought you'd like to know. Not that that nut doctor even thought about checking him for it.

I saw this last night. The sky looked really beautiful. There were so many colors all at once. I do believe it's a rainbow.
I'm driving to Douglasville today for a depo that's expected to last three or four hours. Ugh. If y'all don't know how I do my job, I have this mask that I use to repeat everything that goes on during the proceedings. Well, I'm living in mortal fear that my tooth is going to fall out because of all that pressure on my face. That's not me, obviously, but that's exactly how I do it. Maybe I don't have that excited expression on my face, but that's pretty much it.
One week till the beach. Seven days.
Till tomorrow.

Oh, NO! A car issue is one of the most dreaded things in my book of dreaded things. When stuff starts going wrong with my vehicles, we trade them in. That's why we always have multiple large car payments, I guess.
Maybe it's something minor, and that wrench is just meant to freak you out a little. Poor baby, Cameron. I hate it when they're sick. Hopefully he's on the mend. Wonder if he did have that swine flu? Like seriously? Weird. LOVE YOU :0)

I hope it's not something major with your car but it sounds like it may be :(
I had a few minutes to read some blogs while my daughter was with the nurses so I thought I'd say hello.

I prayed for Cam. Hard to be that sick... hard to be a mom of someone that sick! Praying for your car too. That's an expense you don't count on!

Kelly, I will really pray for your car. That is one thing that stresses me out to the fullest. When the least little thing happens to my car I freak out. I guess I know that I don't want another car. I want to retire from this old working world. Let me know what the outcome is. I am claining it is just something simple like a loose hose or wire! Love you bunches
