Sizzle & Summer Pests

Not exactly sure what the weather is doing across the country, but here in Georgia, it's sizzling hot. I think it got up to 94 degrees in my neighborhood today. That's pretty hot for June. This is the first summer in several years we aren't being lectured about flushing the toilets too much. In other words, we aren't in a drought. You can sure tell it too. Everyone's grass is green. The trees don't look thirsty. All the flowers are healthy and some of the pests that I normally see on my flowers are not here. Suz and Jason actually said the rivers they saw in the mountains over the weekend were full. What a relief because when Jeff and I went to the mountains for my birthday in October of '08, you could walk all the way across what would be a waterfall. There was just no water there.

I'm kinda curious about something. We play the air conditioner up and down game at my house. When I'm hot, Jeff's not. When he's hot, I'm not. We can't get a comfortable temperature we agree on. Unless I'm up and moving around inside, I freeze when the air is on. Except at night. When I go to bed, I would love to sleep with the thermostat set on about 70. Generally speaking, I don't like the way air conditioned air feels. It just feels too chilly. What temperature do you set your thermostat? There has to be a happy medium.

So my dad (the king of garage sale/yard sale/estate sales) bought this really big float at a garage sale this past winter. I bought it from him and used it today in the pool. I actually proofed a deposition while I floated around in the pool. Heavenly it was.

Wasps and flies are what's bugging me. We've killed three in our house in the past couple of days. They've built themselves a nest inside our garage and they're coming in when we open the garage door. The flies just come in like they're a welcome guest we've been waiting all year for. I have a major fly fetish. They give me the creeps.

This has to be the single most boring post in the history of blogs.

Till tomorrow. LLL.

It was a hot day even though I just stuck my head out to walk to the mailbox. I keep the downstairs air off in the daytime and this year I keep the upstairs on 74 all the time. My upstairs gets hotter and I have tried turning it up and off and it takes it too long to cool off. I run fans at night too, like it cool and with some cover on me:) There is something about filling a balloon with water and hanging it outside your doors and it will keep the flies from coming in. Sounds like you combined work and pleasure today... "Good Girl"!

Well, I do believe we have some bugs in Buford, too. We went walking tonight and saw a dead turtle and a LIVE snake! Yikers! Hope you have a good day tomorrow, and remember me on my trek to Douglasville!

SOOOO hot in the deep South! We don't have trees around our home and I feel like we are baking. Flies - ugh! We had them. What seems to be missing is mosquitos - I haven't seen many of them at all!

Well my thermostat is programmed for 78 during the day and at 5:00 it goes down to 72. Although here lately in the afternoon it still feels blazing in the house to me, could be because after I make the trek home in my car with NO AIR CONDITIONER there just ain't no cooling me off for a while. Car is in the shop now getting fixed though! Yeehaw! As for the bugs, the mosquitos have been toting us away but so far not the flies. I wonder what it is about your garage that they like? While the flies are calling your house their home the spiders seem to be calling my house their home. Yesterday I literally chased one around the living room. He just wouldn't die! I stepped on him and he played dead while I went to get a napkin to pick him up and low and behold when I got back he was running away! No fear though I still got him....rest in peace you varmint! You just can't beat doing your job while in the pool, smart girl!

In Washington it has been staying in the 70's. Perfect. Air Conditioning? hahahaha! Hardly anyone has it in the western side of the state! We use lots of fans. Of course, we sleep with them all year long. Bugs? I just think of the nasty things flies land on and it makes me cringe. Don't want them on my stuff. Haven't seen many bee's. Been pretty nice up here in Paradise (Bay).
