Modesty's Down the Crapper

Please excuse the abrasiveness of the title of this post, but girls, there's just no other way to put it. The past two days here in the Peach State have been glorious. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the weeds are growing, and folks are bringing out their summer clothes. About a month too early, in my opinion, but nonetheless, they've brought them out anyway. I've never seen so much skin in March before in my life. Nobody is ready for Spring and Summer more than me. Nobody. But for everything there is a season. Or so we've been told.

I'm just wondering where in the heck modesty went because it's sure not around anywhere I've been this weekend. Some of the clothes I've seen girls wearing has me really thinking that it has indeed has gone down the crapper. I'm not talking about just a low-cut dress or top. I'm talking about a one-wrong-move-and-your-areola-is-showing dress or top! Or a one-wrong-turn-and-your-whole-booty-is-showing skirt! And even worse still, I'm not just talking about on girls my age, but on high school age girls too! I'm just not sure what makes girls think that everyone in a restaurant wants to see every square inch of their body. I'm comfortable enough in my skin to say that I think a little is okay, but EVERY SQUARE INCH, well, as my MaMa Kimball used to say, that's bad enough to gag a buzzard. And when I see a cute, young high school girl dressed like a tramp on the street, that really makes me want to gag.

When my sisters and I were growing up, way back in time, my dad gave us the once-over before we left the house. I think he did that because he knew that the fine young gentleman we were going out with would most definitely be doing the same thing, as well as would anyone else that we might see. He certainly didn't want us giving out free peep shows. Maybe that's why still to this day, at 43 years old, I like a little modesty.

Got a pounding migraine this morning. Not sure why. I think it has something to do with this crick in my neck that I can't get rid of. I think I'm gonna have to get it massaged out by a professional. Darn, I hate that. I got out of the bed thinking that maybe the gravity was weighing down on me making it hurt more. Sometimes it does seem like that, but not today. This one is a doozy. And on that note, I'm stepping off of my modesty soapbox and going back to my bed. I had a massage person tell me that if you put ice on your head and heat on your feet that it's a good remedy for migraines. Sometimes that does seem like it works. Do y'all know of anything else that works?

Enjoy your Sunday. Hope it's filled with lots of love!

Oh, I totally agree. And I'm far from being a prude, but I wish these young girls would realize that less, when it comes to skin showing, is more. It's always more attractive to keep people guessing what you've got going on under all those clothes. LOL

Have you tried caffeine for the migraine?

Hi Kelly! The title of today's post had me in stitches!!! As the mother of a soon-to-be 14 year old BOY, I am continually appalled at how the girls (his age) dress, act & speak. I keep thinking, surely, they MUST be changing clothes when they leave the house because no mother, in her right mind, would allow their daughter to look like such a "trollop" in public. Then I see these stand-up mothers strolling around the mall with their girls and realize: they could care less...or maybe they've just given up the fight. "Everyone's doing it", apparently, works better than when I was young. Okay...hopping off my soapbox...I'm sounding FAR too much like my mother for my liking :-)
You HAVE to give it a go with soap making. Kelly, truly...it is SOOOO easy, takes no time at all (if you get the read-made, microwaveable soap cubes) and the finished product is wonderful!
I'll echo the suggestion about caffeine for a migraine. I've only had 2, in my life, but I'd rather have birthed a Doberman than go through THAT again! Feel better and be gentle with yourself.

Hope you feel better! Since I hang out with my granddaughter and her friends a lot, that's what a lot of them are doing is "hanging out" of their clothes. Mostly the low cut shirts. Girls are just chestier these days than I recall ever in the days when I was 13. The bathing suits in stores are now string bikinis and barely cover what needs to be covered. Happy Sunday and I have almost survived the first day of daylight saving time:)

We are VERY close to Coastal Alabama. It is really bad here to. My girls will look at me sometimes and say "You would NEVER let me dress like that." And they are right.

I hope that your head feels better soon!

LOL! Not meaning looking at the way I dress but after they have seen others look less than modest!

Ha! I just made it sound like I am the biggest Hoochie around!
