What a Difference a Day Makes

Yesterday it was cold and windy here at the beach. Not quite the beach weather you dream of. The long walk we had planned on taking yesterday wasn't such a great idea. We nearly froze. It is much warmer and nowhere near as windy today.

There is a half-marathon race today on the island. While hundreds of health conscious folks were up early and running/walking a half marathon, I had a big decison to make. Should I have the pecan twirls, the chocolate donuts or the honey bun with my coffee. I know, it was a tough one. After careful consideration, though, the pecan twirls won out. The honey bun wasn't fresh enough (I am my father's daughter, after all). The donuts felt kinda hard too. And the pecan twirls, well, everyone knows that nuts are good for you. As you can see from the picture below, I ate almost all of them.
Doc's was in its usual Friday night form last night. It was just so crowded, though, we had to sit in the very back and so you can't really take it all in quite as well from that vantagepoint. It was fun though. I was tired from not sleeping the night before, so we actually came back to the cottage way earlier than we normally do.
Hopefully today we'll be able to take in that long walk. They've done a lot of work on the beach at Lighthouse Point where Judy and Ronnie's condo (our home away from home) is. When we were down in December, there was virtually no beach at high tide. They've had this big machine out in the ocean that's been bringing sand up from the bottom of the ocean and sifting it and making more beach. They've done it all over the island and the beach is bigger than ever. They've finished this end of the island and it really looks nice. We've actually been on the beach in the summertime and at high tide, there would be no beach. Hundreds of hot, sweaty sun bathers covered in various brands of sunscreen scrambling for a spot on a tiny little beach was certainly no fun. The beach improvement will be great.
Cam's golfing this morning. He's taken a recent interest in playing. As much as his dad, uncles, grandparents love the game, it seemed likely that one of my boys would like it. Of course, if you know Cam, you know that he is like me in that he likes to look the part of what he's doing. That is to say, he must have khaki pants, nice shirt and even golf shoes. Even though where's golfing today allows you to wear tennis shoes. He'll look like he knows what he's doing even if he doesn't. Ross is being so responsible with everything at home. He's taking good care of Smokey and Bandit.
Time to go. So much to do, too little time. Hope it's sunny where you're at and that your weekend is off to a great start.
